Intersession Information – 2009-10

Intersession is one of the most exciting and innovative aspects of Summit Schools’ academic program. For those who have not yet experienced it, the Intersession is comprised of two four-week sessions during the school year when students engage in a full-time course or experience. Intersession courses this year will include students from our new school, Everest, so students will have the opportunity to meet their peers from our larger Summit community.

General Intersession Information

Session I:

January 4 – January 29 (No class on January 18)

Session II:

May 17 – June 11 (No class on May 31)

§  Student must take the same class for both Sessions I & II.

§  Students and parents have input into which classes or experiences students want, but the school will make all final determinations based on the following criteria:

On-time – Students who submit forms on time will have priority over those who do not.

Grade Level – Placement will be made using a seniority system with seniors receiving highest priority and then in descending order.

Meet college requirements – All students are placed to ensure they have successfully completed college entrance requirements.

§  Only those courses marked with UC-VPA will be recorded on student’s transcripts.  All other courses and experiences may be written about in personal essays or recorded as experiences, but will not appear on the official transcript.
